Cable termination kit should be able to operate safely for a long time and have the same service life as the power cable itself. Good cable termination kit should have the following performance:
- excellent connection of the conductor, the connection resistance is small and stable, able to withstand the impact of fault current; After long-term operation, the contact resistance should not be greater than 1.2 times the resistance of the same length of the cable conductor.
- Good insulation performance, The insulation performance of a cable termination kit should not be lower than that of the cable itself, and the dielectric loss of the insulation materials used should be low. In terms of structure, the sudden changes in the electric field in the cable termination kit should be well handled, and measures should be taken to change the distribution of the electric field. the reason is , When making a cable termination, the shielding layer is removed, changing the original electric field distribution of the cable, which will generate a tangential electric field (along the axial direction of the wire) that is extremely detrimental to insulation. Concentrate the power line with the core wire stripped of the shielding layer towards the shielding layer fracture. So the break of the shielding layer is the most easily penetrated part of the cable.

Steps for making a cable termination
Cable terminal and middle joint is the weakest point of a cable line, and the quality of its installation is the key to the safe operation of the cable line, which should be given sufficient attention.
1) The cable termination should be moisture-proof during installation and should not be used in rainy, foggy, or windy days. When the average temperature is below 0 ℃, the cable should be pre heated.
2) Ensure the cleanliness of hands, tools, and materials during construction. You should not do anything unrelated during operation (especially not smoking!).
3) The cable termination kit should be pre assembled to check if the specifications are consistent with the cables, if all components are complete, check the date of production, check the packaging (sealing), and prevent errors in peeling and cutting dimensions.
Preparation work for making a cable termination
1. Before laying the cable, the insulation of the cable body should be checked, and the color arrangement should be found on the cable head to avoid crossing the core wires on the middle head of the three core cable (to align the phase sequence).
2. After the cable is laid, a DC withstand voltage test should be conducted on the cable. After the test, the cable head should be sealed to prevent moisture.
3. The middle end cable should have a margin and the position for placing the cable.

6. Peel off the inner insulation layer
7. Welding shielding layer grounding wire
8. Copper shielding layer treatment
9. Peel off semi conductive layer
10. Clean the surface of the main insulation layer

12. Install insulation sleeves and wiring terminals
