Some more information about these data cables

There are two main types of data cables: one is the 100 Ω cable promoted in the American countries, mainly for unshielded twisted pair (UTP); the other type is the 150 Ω cable implemented in European countries, mainly aimed at shielded twisted pair (STP). With the rapid development of optical communication technology, optical fiber cables have been widely used in the Backbone network and inter office trunk lines of wired communication network, and it has become an inevitable trend for optical fiber to enter the access network. However, the cost of fiber optic cable laying is too high, the cost of joints and the cost of terminal optical to electrical conversion are expensive. Therefore, for a long period of time before the popularization of fiber optic technology, the user lines of the access network will still be mainly metal data cables. Metal data cables mainly include two types: coaxial cables and data cables. Among them, data cables are currently the ideal transmission medium for broadband access networks. They have the advantages of low manufacturing cost, simple structure, good scalability, and easy network upgrade. They are mainly used for building comprehensive wiring, community computer comprehensive wiring, and so on. The latest version of the commercial building communication cable standard is ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B. The TR-42 Technical Committee of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has split the standard into series B.1, B.2, and B.3. Among them, 568-B.1 includes information required for the design, installation, and field testing of general building cable systems; 568-B.2 and 568-B.3 include specifications for the manufacturing and component reliability testing of cables, patch cords, and connectors. 568-B.3 was released in April 2000 and is applicable to fiber optic components. 568-B.2 specifies the electrical and mechanical requirements for UTP and F/UTP, as well as the requirements for CAT3 and CAT5e cables and components. Both 568-B.1 and 568-B.2 were released in June 2001.

The ISO/IEC JTC1 SC25/WG 3 working group released the second edition of the ISO/IEC 11801:2002 standard in 2002, followed by two supplements AM1 and AM2 in 2008 and 2010, which made new provisions for CAT6A and CAT7A cables and their connectors. [1] The characteristic of ISO/IEC 11801 is that it specifies the working area interface and channel link parameters of CAT7A. In terms of optical cables, the standard specifies three levels of 300m, 500m, and 2000m for serving existing and future network applications. In terms of component requirements, ISO/IEC 11801:2002 refers to the horizontal layer of IEC 61156-5 and the working area of IEC 61156-6. Except for some minor exceptions, all requirements for cables in ISO/IEC 11801:2002 can be found in these two standards. For RJ-45 type sockets, ISO/IEC 11801:2002 AM2:2010 refers to the IEC 60603-7-X (x=1, 2,… 7) series; For the new RJ-45 socket (GG45 type connector), reference is made to IEC 60603-7-71; For the new RJ-45 type socket (TERA type connector), reference was made to IEC61076-3-104. [1]

In the first edition of ISO/IEC 15018, in the field of information and communication technology, household cables refer to the provisions of ISO/IEC 11801:2002 for the same cable; In the field of broadcast communication technology, reference has been made to the IEC 61156-6 1200MHz cable specification, IEC 61156-7, and IEC 61076-3-104. The bandwidth of 1200MHz in the CAT8 network allows it to provide multiple services simultaneously, including Terrestrial TV, CCTV, DAB, FM, audio, IR control, 10/100 and 100/1000 Ethernet, video, telephone, USB peripheral devices, and more.

CAT 7 cables comply with IEC 61156-7 standards with a bandwidth of 600MHz, while CAT 7A cables comply with IEC 61156-7 standards with a bandwidth of 1000MHz.
