What is a GPON OLT
OLT refers to optical line terminal, and an OLT equipment is used to connect the terminal equipment of optical fiber trunk line. It is an optoelectronic equipment, which can be connected with the front-end (convergence layer) switch by network cable, converted into optical signals, and interconnected with the optical splitter at the user end by a single optical fiber; Realize the control, management and ranging of the ONU of the user equipment; Like ONU equipment in GPON network. it send Ethernet data to ONU (optical network unit) by broadcast; secondly, Initiate and control the ranging process and record the ranging information; thirdly, Allocate bandwidth for ONU;

GPON OLT
Provide high-density PON ports, and the entire machine can support 2048 ONU terminals when fully equipped, with a larger capacity than regular box OLT. Each PON port supports a 1:256 optical division ratio (maximum access to 256 ONUs), and can be configured with up to 8 10 Gigabit interfaces. 1. Divide each local network into large areas based on coverage distance and business development plan, and establish 9-10 aggregation computer rooms; Local networks with dense business coverage such as Wuhan are planned to have 30-40 convergence computer rooms;
2. GPON OLT is deployed in each regional aggregation machine room. Adopting rack mounted large capacity OLT equipment, deploying 1 set of OLT equipment in each computer room, adopting dual main control, dual power supply, and dual uplink to improve equipment reliability;
3. A local network with metropolitan area network resources, OLT is connected to the convergence layer switch, and broadband service authentication is completed by the local network BAS, while VOIP voice service is provided by IMS+GPON;
4. For local networks without metropolitan area network resources, MSCG devices are deployed in each local network. MSCG devices also serve as BRAS, SR, and SBC functions, directly connecting CMNET to the access nodes of each local network. GPON OLT is connected to MSCG, which completes broadband service authentication, and IMS+GPON provides VOIP voice services.
5. If OLT and MSCG are in the same computer room, they are directly connected; OLTs that are not in the same computer room will be connected to the aggregation layer OTN network and then to the MSCG device;
6. The PON port of the OLT device is connected to the ONU terminal equipment through the ODN network (including ODF, splitter, optical handover box, etc.) to achieve the access of final customer services;
7. The ODN network can adopt a two-level splitting mode to improve the utilization of PON ports and meet the access of ONU terminals at different distances and regions;
8. In areas with demand, Mini OTN and GPON can be used to cooperate in networking, extend the distance between OLT and ONU, and achieve access layer business protection for important customers.
