Except this OPPC cable, we are also available for its hardware & fittings, such as splice box and tension & suspension clamps. Due to the unique structure of an OPPC Cable, it need to use pre-formed fittings to protect the fibers during installation. The use of pre-formed fittings has three advantages: firstly, the construction is simple and fast, no need to take heavy compressors, crimping pliers on site. Secondly, pre-formed fittings are in good conductivity and significant energy-saving effects; thirdly,  the installation of pre-formed fittings increased the contact surface between the wires on fittings and OPPC cable, which increases in length, evenly distributes the force, reduces the fatigue of the wire, prolongs the life of the wire, and improves the seismic resistance etc.

Main features of this OPPC Cable

1. The design of OPPC cable is suitable for any new  power transmission & power distribution line and voltage level lower than 110 kV.

2. The structure of OPPC cable is similar to OPGW cable, but due to its fuction of a phase conductor, OPPC cable need to carry the current all the time. Therefore, the impact of long-term operating temperature on the transmission performance and lifespan of optical fiber need to considered when you design and choose a proper type of OPPC Cable.

3. The mechanical and electrical properties of OPPC cable should be consistent with adjacent phase conductors, such as DC resistance or impedance similar to adjacent phase conductor, to ensure that the remote voltage changes maintain three-phase balance.

4. OPPC cable is installed in a high-voltage system, and its hardware and accessories (such as tension clamps, suspension clamps, and terminal splice box ) need to be insulated. The clamps can be used with corresponding insulated tension wire strings or insulated suspension strings. optic fiber-phase conductor insulation/separation and connection require special technology, which requires relatively high construction requirements.

Applications of an OPPC Cable

OPPC cables are mainly used on power lines with a voltage level below 110KV, such as suburban power distribution networks and rural power grid network. Affected by factors such as power outages and safety, it is mainly applied to newly built power distribution lines.

(1) Replace one phase conductor with an OPPC Cable on an exsiting power transmission or a distribution line ; Mechanical and electrical characteristics need to be matched

(2) In medium and low voltage power grids, especially for distribution lines below 35KV, some can be used on power lines without grounding wires.

(3) used on some Transmission or distribution lines unsuitable for installing OPGW and ADSS cables.
