In this post, we will only have an overview of common faults and solutions in photovoltaic power plants. Different types of PV power plant and operating environments may cause other types of faults, which require specific analysis and resolution. Regular maintenance and inspection are important guarantees for the normal operation of photovoltaic power plants.
1. Failure of power grid network
Power grid faults include voltage fluctuations, voltage imbalances, short circuits, overloads, etc. A malfunction may cause the photovoltaic power plant to be unable to connect to the grid and can also cause damage to the inverter.
The solutions include:
Install voltage regulators, reactive power compensation devices, and other devices to stabilize the grid voltage.
Install AC contactors and quick fuses in front of the inverter to promptly disconnect power grid faults.
2. Failure of PV Inverter
Inverter faults include fault protection, aging of electronic components, poor heat dissipation, etc. The solutions include:
Regularly inspect and maintain the inverter, and replace faulty components in a timely manner.
Install temperature probes, current sensors, and other sensors to monitor the operation status of the inverter and promptly detect faults.
Improve the heat dissipation effect of the inverter, such as increasing the heat sink area and reducing environmental temperature.
3. Failure of Photovoltaic module
Photovoltaic module failures include module aging, damage, shadow blocking, etc. The solutions include:
Regularly inspect and maintain components, and promptly replace aging and damaged components.
Analyze and evaluate the shadow occlusion of components, and adjust the component layout.
4. Failure of power cables
Power cable faults include cable aging, open circuit, short circuit, etc.
The solutions include:
Regularly inspect and maintain power cables, and promptly replace aged and damaged power cables.
Strengthen the protection and insulation of cables to avoid mechanical damage.
5. Failure of PV support bracket : PV support bracket may be loose, deformed and other failures, affecting the installation of PV modules and power generation efficiency. The solution is to inspect the bracket, tighten the loose parts, and replace the deformed parts.
6. Weather impact: bad weather, such as strong wind, heavy rain, and snow, affects the power generation efficiency and equipment safety of the photovoltaic power station. The solution is to pay attention to the weather forecast in a timely manner and take measures such as strengthening the PV support bracket, emergency shutdown, etc.
